Among the Keio University affiliated schools, there are organizations that conduct joint practice sessions, training camps, and performances with other affiliated schools through a form of "partnership."
In particular, Keio Senior High School and Keio Girls Senior High School have many clubs in partnership. Students regularly visit each other's campuses after school to work hard on their daily activities. Here, we introduce three music-related organizations.
Rich harmonies echoing through the Hiyoshi Kyuiku Hall at the Senior High School.
The Wagner Society Orchestra clubs of the Senior High School and the Girls Senior High School regularly hold joint practices and sectional rehearsals, pursuing beautiful harmony as they layer their sounds together.
Also producing beautiful melodies is the Mandolin Club. They are working hard in joint practices for their performances at the October school festivals: the Girls Senior High School's Kannazuki-sai and the Senior High School's Hiyoshi-sai.
This is Gakuyukai. They also conduct activities at both campuses. Because they are a partnership club, they can produce the beautiful harmonies of a mixed chorus, rather than just male or female voices.
Gakuyukai was established in 1950 alongside the founding of the Girls Senior High School. Kiyoshi Nakamura, the first principal of the Girls Senior High School, wrote in the inaugural issue of "Gakuyu": "It is a source of supreme joy that our desire to incorporate the advantages of coeducation by utilizing every opportunity has been realized so quickly in such a beautiful form."
The various clubs of both schools continue to cooperate to this day, cherishing this original purpose.
