Keio Academy of New York ──A Promotional Video Production Project with Alumni──

Published: June 03, 2026

Currently, at Keio Academy of New York, Andy Yamada, a 2002 graduate (10th class) and a filmmaker active in Hollywood, is working with current students to produce a promotional video for the academy.

After graduating from Keio Academy of New York, Andy Yamada studied media design at the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, and later earned an MFA from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts. He is currently active at the forefront of international film production.

The concept of this project is "Keio Academy of New York as seen through the eyes of its students." It is an attempt to express the daily lives of students and the irreplaceable bonds nurtured here in a way that only video can convey. Participating students were selected through an open application process and have been involved in the production from the planning stage. Primarily responsible for filming, they are capturing natural moments and the authentic spirit of the academy that only students can capture.

Through the production process, students are experiencing the difficulties and joys of filmmaking while honing their ability to ask themselves "what to convey, to whom, and how," and then give it shape. Andy Yamada is teaching his juniors the importance of infusing their own feelings into their work and, above all, the importance of enjoying the creative process.

This promotional video project, in which alumni and current students collaborate to weave a new story for the academy, is scheduled for completion in December 2026. Expectations are high for this portrayal of the academy, passed down across generations.
