Learning Anything of Interest, Not Just in the Field of Law

Studying Law Is Studying the World

During high school, I ran in a mock mayoral election and gained experience in policy planning. At that time, I realized that the mechanisms of the world are determined by law, and I came to believe that "studying law is studying the world." That is why I decided to pursue studies in the Faculty of Law.

What led me to aim for Keio University was an upperclassman who demonstrated leadership in the same club I was in. I was inspired by them saying, "You can challenge yourself with anything, and your world will expand. I'm glad I joined." My desire to work hard and study at the same university grew stronger.

Belonging to Two Seminars in Different Fields

I believe the greatest strength of the Faculty of Law at Keio University is the environment where you can learn anything you are interested in, not just within the field of law. It is possible to continue deepening your knowledge in the humanities and natural sciences that you studied in your first and second years even as a third-year student. In terms of research, I belong to two seminars in different fields and am able to gain fruitful learning every day.

The first is a constitutional law seminar. Under the theme of "Family and the Constitution," I gave a presentation on judicial precedents regarding same-sex marriage lawsuits during the spring semester. The second is a humanities seminar that researches performing arts. I have loved musicals since I was a child, but because I didn't want to remain just a fan, I am conducting comparative research with theater businesses in other countries under the theme of "The Potential for Global Development of Japanese-made Musicals."

Inspiration from Friends Striving Toward Their Goals

Another major attraction is being able to meet peers from diverse backgrounds. I belong to a law circle called "Juhachinin-kai," and I am inspired every day by my friends who work greedily toward their goals.

Additionally, as an extracurricular activity, I am participating in a program organized by a major entertainment company and am working hard on writing scripts for original musicals. As the youngest participant, I sometimes worried about the difference in experience compared to those around me, but I have been learning know-how from professional writers and composers, hanging on desperately with my love for musicals in my heart. In 2025, I staged an original work, and having it seen by a large audience was a very valuable experience.

Bringing a New Breeze to the Japanese Theater World

In the future, I want to spread Japanese-made musicals throughout the world. I had intended to aim for the bar exam upon entering university, but as I moved to Tokyo and had more opportunities to experience theatrical works, my desire not to give up on being involved in theater grew stronger. To become someone who brings a new breeze to the Japanese theater world, I am putting all my effort into continuing my creative activities alongside my academic studies.

There may be times when you feel crushed by the pressure of entrance exams, but if you hold high goals and put in effort that you won't regret, that path will become your own right answer. Please believe in yourself and keep moving forward.
