On May 31, 2022, Takasu Town in Hokkaido and the Keio Research Institute at SFC concluded a partnership agreement to contribute to solving regional issues through regional-academic collaboration. Through this agreement, Keio aims to contribute to the formation and development of a vibrant regional society and human resources development in an ongoing manner. This will be achieved through prompt and appropriate responses to regional issues by means of mutual cooperation, deployment, and exchange of expertise, personnel, and resources. Specifically, Keio has been conducting research through practical means on concrete measures to increase the number of users of the Takasu District Residents’ Center, “Furatto,” and to create a variety of activities that contribute to community building. In AY 2024, the final year of the project, a kamishibai (storytelling performance involving the use of paper cards) was produced for children to learn about the history of the town, creating a way to promote exchanges spanning multiple generations.
