Keio University

The Keio University Sports Medicine Research Center is collaborating with Kanuma City to explore cross-departmental policy initiatives and to develop evidence-based health-promotion measures that center on encouraging physical activity.

In AY 2025, a foundation for collaboration was established through the conclusion of a comprehensive partnership agreement with Kanuma City. Keio was able to foster an understanding of cross-disciplinary collaboration through staff training and exchange meetings between municipalities. Keio also contributed to the incorporation of physical activity promotion into the city’s Comprehensive Plan and Health Promotion Plan, as well as the development of a logic model. It was also decided that a collaborative council between government and academia would be established from AY 2026. These efforts laid the groundwork for further accelerating sustainable policy evaluation and capacity building, including policy development using a systems approach and the design of citizen surveys aligned with the Health Japan 21 project.
