The Keio Leading-edge Laboratory of Science and Technology (KLL) (KLL) held "KEIO TECHNO-MALL 2025" on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Tokyo International Forum.
This event is an exhibition designed to widely disseminate the research results of the Keio University Faculty of Science and Technology and Graduate School of Science and Technology to society, providing opportunities to open up new possibilities for industry-government-academia collaboration.
The theme for this year was "The Origin of 'jitsugaku (science)'—A Bridge to a Diverse Next Generation." The venue featured 97 exhibition booths and panels, welcoming over 1,600 visitors. In particular, many visitors stopped in front of the exhibits centered on actual equipment and demonstrations—one of the highlights of this event—to experience cutting-edge technology using all five senses. They listened intently to the explanations from researchers and students, and active discussions took place throughout the day.
The nine symposium sessions and short presentations were highly successful, with many sessions reaching standing-room-only capacity. In the main event, "Keio Science & Technology Future Vision Dialogue: Future Research, Education, and Innovation Aimed for by Keio Graduate School of Science and Technology," discussions deepened from various perspectives regarding the future of Keio science and technology. Questions were also raised from the audience, making it a valuable opportunity to share a powerful vision for the next generation.
A notable feature of this year's event was the presence of many junior high and high school students, in addition to business professionals. It was impressive to see them watching intently as current undergraduate and graduate students gave passionate explanations. The sight of different generations sharing the fascination of science felt like the very embodiment of the event's theme, "A Bridge to the Next Generation."
Using the encounters at this event as a starting point, KLL will continue to promote its mission of industry-government-academia collaboration. The next KEIO TECHNO-MALL is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2026, at the Tokyo International Forum.
