Takahisa Tanaka Laboratory, Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University: Fundamental Research on Nanomaterials and their Application to High-Sensitivity Gas Sensors

The Tanaka Laboratory conducts research on various electronic devices that use nanoscale electronic materials to acquire and process information. In particular, we aim to improve device performance by utilizing the physical properties that manifest in nanoscale electronic materials.

For example, for sensors that acquire information, we have developed highly sensitive sensors for detecting target substances by utilizing adsorption and chemical reactions on the surfaces and interfaces of nanoscale electronic materials several nanometers thick.

For electronic devices that process information, we analyze atomic-scale phenomena in resistive switching elements that can be integrated into increasingly miniaturized transistors and integrated circuit wiring, using numerical calculations.
