Laboratory of Natural Product Chemistry (Associate Professor Yoko Saikawa) - Exploration and Synthesis of Natural Organic Compounds with Unique Structures and Functions

The Nakata/Saikawa Laboratory at the Department of Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, is conducting research in natural product organic chemistry. The natural world is full of mysterious phenomena and elaborate tricks beyond our imagination. We believe that by synthesizing compounds with challengingly complex structures with our own hands, or by unraveling mysterious, unexplained biological phenomena at the molecular level, we can discover new compounds, new properties of compounds, and new organic chemical reactions.
