Organic Synthesis Chemistry Laboratory (Professor Kenichi Takao) - Developing Novel and Useful Substances through Chemical Reactions of Organic Compounds

The Takao Laboratory at the Department of Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, conducts research and development to artificially create various organic compounds that have traditionally been extracted from natural products.

"Natural products, as the name suggests, are compounds found in nature, but I don't mean things like wakame or kombu seaweed. Humankind has discovered many useful substances from nature, including numerous pharmaceuticals. We also synthesize such beneficial compounds for humanity using chemical reactions, without relying on living organisms. The development of synthetic reactions is another of our main themes, forming one of our two pillars."
