Sugiura Laboratory - Superconductivity, Ultrasound, Microbubbles, and Mechanical Dynamics

At the Sugiura Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, we are working to elucidate coupled phenomena of electromagnetism and mechanical dynamics, as well as phenomena of nonlinear dynamics, through analysis and experimentation. Currently, we are focusing on three main themes. The first is the study of nonlinear vibrations in superconducting magnetic levitation systems. Because superconducting magnetic levitation systems levitate objects without contact, they have extremely low energy loss due to friction and are expected to be applied to highly energy-efficient mechanisms.
