Suzuki Laboratory - Toward Further Applications of Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC)

At the Suzuki Laboratory of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, we are engaged in the development of high-performance thin film materials and material analysis at the atomic level, with "nanomaterials" as a keyword. In particular, our research focuses on a carbon material called diamond-like carbon, or DLC, with the aim of applying it to various fields.

DLC is an amorphous carbon film with properties similar to diamond, and it possesses excellent characteristics in terms of hardness, smoothness, gas barrier properties, and biocompatibility. It is already widely used in applications such as PET bottles and automotive parts.
