Here at the Matsuoka Laboratory, we research theories and methodologies for integrating industrial design, as practiced by designers, with engineering design, as practiced by engineers.

The lack of a common foundation between these two design disciplines makes it difficult to share information and collaborate.

To solve this problem, the Matsuoka Laboratory aims to establish a design science that will serve as a foundation for all forms of design, including both industrial and engineering design, and make it possible to integrate them.
