The power of chemistry, which enables practical manufacturing by providing materials with diverse functions, is crucial for achieving the SDGs and building a sustainable society. In this session, focusing on organic chemistry, young faculty members from the Faculty of Science and Technology introduced Keio's first-of-its-kind initiatives—from the development of organic reactions that form the basis of manufacturing, to the design and synthesis of materials, and even the fundamental technologies of chemical biology and biotechnology. They presented not only their research content but also its challenges and prospects, and held a discussion on the possibilities for social implementation.
