Various initiatives have been undertaken in Japan through industry-government-academia collaboration to create innovation. Especially in recent years, expectations for university-based startups have been steadily increasing. This symposium featured presentations on the innovation policies of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, personal accounts from the presidents of Keio-based startups, and an introduction to the initiatives of Keio University. Furthermore, strategies for accelerating university-based startups and models for linking them to innovation creation were discussed in a round-table format.
