Yutaka Hori Laboratory, Department of Applied Physics and Physico-Informatics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University: Construction of Biomolecular Systems Applying Control Engineering and Mathematical Optimization

The Hori Laboratory applies systems control engineering to research "biomolecular systems," which are expected to contribute to fields such as medical sciences, chemistry, and the environment.

By using biomolecules such as DNA and proteins to construct chemical reaction circuits, it is becoming possible to create micrometer-scale robots that perform sensing, actuation, and computation powered by chemical driving forces.

The Hori Laboratory is developing theoretical and experimental methodologies to streamline the design and control processes of these biomolecular systems, aiming to systematize a new research field at the intersection of engineering and biology.
