Takashi Kadomatsu
Executive Secretary to the Prime Minister (September 2020–)
Graduated from the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies in 1994
As a direct staff member of the Chief Cabinet Secretary, my responsibilities include liaising and coordinating with relevant ministries and agencies, preparing for press conferences, creating related materials, and handling Diet affairs. The work at the Prime Minister's Office involves not only considering the opinions of various ministries and departments but also synthesizing diverse perspectives and opinions to appropriately define problems and formulate solutions with the cooperation of each ministry. During my time as a student, while I focused on the field of information, I was able to encounter a wide range of ideas and knowledge under SFC's educational style of "fusion of humanities and sciences" and "social implementation." This experience—that is, the SFC philosophy of "transcending the barriers of various academic disciplines to discover and solve problems"—is precisely what is required in my current job, and I believe it is directly applicable to my work. In the future, I hope to continue aiming to formulate policies and propose solutions from a higher perspective within the government. In that process, I hope to work together with students and young people to think about the "materials" and "tools" for discovering and solving problems on our own.
