Hajime Ishikawa: Initiatives at the Research Group

Knowing the Region Through its Landscape

Rediscovering the Region and Becoming Aware of the Local Environment

For the sustainability of the campus and its surrounding area, we designed and created media and tools to help residents consciously observe the region and "rediscover" its landscape from the perspectives of topography, watersheds, and vegetation.

For the SFC Open Research Forum in November 2023, we created a model that projects various geographical information (topography, watersheds, existing vegetation, land use, urban planning, etc.) onto a base terrain model, a 1:2000 scale aerial photograph that people could walk on, and a map of local stores. We also designed and exhibited an exhibition space at the Open Research Forum to introduce the initiatives of each laboratory participating in the Sustainable Campus Program.
