To develop "MBSE-enabled architects" for the space industry, we built a competency framework for graduate education that integrates international systems engineering competency standards with national space-sector skill standards, reported as a case study at Keio University.

This mixed-method longitudinal study evaluates a transdisciplinary education program in Ama Town, Shimane, Japan, integrating systems thinking, design thinking, and project management within community-embedded PBL. A ten-item EntreComp-mapped rubric administered across seven waves (N=40), with peer feedback and mentor evaluations, revealed a non-linear trajectory (2.97 to 3.21) with a dip at the transition from workshop to PBL phases.

A structured narrative review of rubric-based self-assessment and AI-generated formative feedback. We articulate a four-element analytical framework (Episode recall, Rubric calibration, Reasoning verbalisation, AI feedback) and find that no focal study instantiates the full learner-side process; the most common configuration positions the learner as a recipient rather than an active reasoner.

We report the design and evaluation of a one-day (465-minute, 27-substep) team-based project management workshop as a matched N=9 case study in an island study-abroad program in Ama Town, Japan, analyzing item-level changes on a ten-item competency rubric pre-classified into Target, Adjacent, and Control categories.

We propose a 15-step, four-phase decision-support method for system change investing, from stakeholder mapping and causal loop construction through leverage point analysis to intervention point selection. A between-subjects workshop experiment (n = 8 per group) showed large effect sizes for usability, leverage point differentiation, and stakeholder communication compared with conventional systems thinking combined with financial analysis.

As part of the MBSE-enabled Space Architect Training Program at Keio SDM, we developed a one-day air rocket (paper rocket) exercise as an instructional module for short-cycle, hands-on learning of systems engineering and project management fundamentals. The exercise cycles through planning, design, fabrication, test shot, launch, and retrospective in time-boxed iterations, and makes resource constraints explicit by sharing a launch pad across teams.

This paper reports the design and initial implementation of an educational program that leverages MBSE to cultivate space architects. The program is organized around three core modules (Systems Engineering, Project Management, and Systems x Design Thinking) and embeds rubric-based evaluation to support reflection. Pilot workshops in 2024 indicated that goal orientation tends to erode under increased cognitive load, whereas structured reflection helps participants realign requirements with mission intent.

To cultivate experts capable of leading the development of complex, highly integrated systems, we are developing a Space Architect Training Program that integrates system x design thinking, systems engineering, and project management. This paper focuses on system x design thinking, proposing concrete design methods and reporting practice cases that contributed to fostering the competencies required of space architects.

Within a competency-based, MBSE-grounded Space Architect program, we conducted a two-cycle introductory SE workshop focused on cultivating goal orientation. In the second cycle, an additional mission requirement ("wildfire observation") was introduced to intentionally disrupt goal orientation. Rubric scores increased after the first cycle and declined after the second, consistent with the educational intent of letting learners experience both the strengthening and disruption of their design focus.

We introduced a one-day workshop in which graduate student teams design, build, and launch pneumatically propelled paper rockets as a scaffold for subsequent high-stakes PBL. Using an evidence-bundle approach (self-report, behavioral, and reflective indicators), we examined preliminary evidence of SE/PM learning transfer into a year-long CubeSat project; six of seven participants applied SE/PM concepts in the subsequent project.
