He has been involved in ISO/TC176 (Quality management and quality assurance), ISO/TC69 (Application of statistical methods), IEC/TC111 (Environmental standards for electrical and electronic equipment and systems), etc. for a long time, and in particular, he has made a significant contribution as a representative of Japan to the revision of ISO9001 (Quality management systems - Requirements) and as an international chief examiner to the IEC's standards on environmental design. In Japan, he served as the leader of the working group for ISO 19011 (Guidelines for Management System Audits), vice-chairman of the Japanese committee for quality management system standards, and chairman of the Japanese committee for IEC/TC111, and contributed to the formulation of JIS standards.
