The theme of the colloquium will be “Politics and Theatre in Modern Asia.” Asian theater has undergone its own transformation in all regions during the 20th century and has contributed many cutting-edge stage creations to the world of theater. At the same time, Asian countries have experienced significant political changes, which have undoubtedly influenced theatre and its people in various ways.
Thus, we wish to attain a better understanding of modern theatre in Asian countries through a concrete examination of the new theater situation and political background of modern Asia.
