Following the workshop held at the Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) last year, the first workshop of this fiscal year, "Tips for Press Releases Workshop," was held at the Yagami Campus on Friday, November 7, 2014.
In the workshop, Atsuko Ishiguro, Director of the Office of Communications and Public Relations, first gave a talk titled "Press Release Susume" regarding Keio University's press release methods. This was followed by a talk titled "Media Utilization Techniques to Leverage Researchers' Thoughts" by Kayoko Yamamoto, Editorial Committee Member and Reporter for the Science and Technology Department of the Editorial Bureau at Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun. She explained the process leading up to actual reporting, points for communication, and precautions regarding technical press releases. While last year's session focused on Ms. Yamamoto's perspective as a reader of press releases, this year's inclusion of a talk by the university's Office of Communications and Public Relations allowed for a deeper understanding of press releases based on both internal and external viewpoints.
On the day of the event, in addition to researchers from the Yagami Campus, there were many participants from other campuses who listened intently, aiming to have more of their research results reported as news.
The second workshop of this fiscal year is scheduled to be held at the Shinanomachi Campus.
