1. About Research Integrity
Research integrity refers to the soundness and fairness that must be voluntarily and autonomously ensured by research institutions and researchers in their activities conducted under the mandate of society (funding, trust, etc.) as the internationalization and openness of research progresses. This goes beyond traditional research integrity (prevention of misconduct) and requires addressing new risks associated with international collaboration that have become apparent in recent years (loss of openness, fairness, and transparency, and the risk of researchers falling into unintended conflicts of interest or conflicts of commitment).
At the Keio University, we have long advocated for "ensuring the fairness and transparency of research activities" in the "Keio University Code of Research Ethics." To ensure research integrity in light of these new risks, we are strengthening our organizational structure and establishing regulations as follows.
