The international symposium "Japanese Cinema: What Is It?" will be held online on January 13, 2025. Film scholars, media scholars, visual culture scholars, and English and American literature scholars from Japan and the U.S. will gather to discuss the fundamental question "What is Japanese cinema?" from interdisciplinary and global perspectives.

We are pleased to welcome D. A. Miller, a scholar of English literature and film critic, and Lindsay Nelson, a scholar of Japanese cinema and culture, for the keynote lectures. We look forward to your participation.
