As the first installment of this fiscal year's new initiative, "Overseas Field Research and Training," a team primarily composed of working group members from this project conducted a visiting survey of universities in Indonesia and Malaysia from Monday, August 25, to Friday, August 29, 2014.

In Indonesia, the team visited the University of Indonesia and Darma Persada University. In Malaysia, they visited the University of Malaya and Tunku Abdul Rahman University. Additionally, the team visited the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology, a new international engineering education hub established under the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan that conducts education and research leveraging the characteristics of Japanese engineering education.

On-site, the team conducted interviews regarding administrative support systems for international research activities and exchanged opinions with local staff, gaining insight into the international collaborative initiatives and support structures for research and education at each institution.
