On February 11, Kaiyo Town, Kaifu District, Tokushima Prefecture (Mayor: Shigeki Miura; hereinafter "Kaiyo"), and the Keio University Graduate School of Media Design (KMD) (located in Kohoku-ku, Yokohama; Dean: Masahiko Inakage; hereinafter "KMD") concluded a comprehensive agreement to collaborate in the fields of media, education, and communication design with the aim of creating a sustainable future for depopulated areas.
This agreement aims to achieve regional revitalization in Kaiyo by utilizing the resources and technologies of both Kaiyo and KMD to address challenges faced by depopulated areas, such as a declining birthrate and aging population and the weakening of community ties, thereby promoting regional vitalization and solving local issues. Under this agreement, the parties will work on "realizing new forms of education that leverage the strengths of small-scale schools" and "promoting interaction among residents in depopulated areas" in the fields of media, education, and communication design. Furthermore, they will engage in long-term business development with a view to increasing the "relationship population." It is expected that further collaboration with parties both inside and outside the region through this agreement will lead to the creation of new innovations.
