A research team, comprising members of the Keio University Hospital Memory Center led by Project Professor Daisuke Ito, Director of the Center, and Yugaku Date of the Department of Cerebrovascular and Neurological Medicine at Saiseikai Yokohama-shi Tobu Hospital, has announced that Alzheimer's disease pathology in the brain can be predicted using the "head-turning sign (HTS)," a clinical sign in patients with dementia, and a simple questionnaire set named the "-News, Consciousness, and Pleasure simple screening questionnaires for dementia (Neucop-Q)-" (consciousness (C), pleasure (P), and news (N)).

This study has shown the potential of this clinical examination method, which can be implemented even in general practice facilities, to efficiently screen for dementia and mild cognitive impairment eligible for Alzheimer's disease-modifying therapies.

The results of this research were published in the online edition of the international medical journal Alzheimer's Research & Therapy on November 21, 2024.
