Waseda University
Keio University
Key Points
The libraries of Waseda and Keio universities have been advancing numerous projects based on an agreement and have now launched two new user services.
1. "Waseda-Keio Library Book Share": A service that allows graduate students, faculty, and staff from both universities to request materials from the partner university through their own university's library catalog system and borrow them at their home institution. The service is available for immediate use with no prior application required.
2. "Waseda-Keio Library Passport": A service that allows undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff from both universities to enter the partner university's library using their home university's student or faculty/staff ID card. This allows them to access the partner university's library as easily as their own.
From November 2024, the libraries of Waseda University (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Aiji Tanaka) and Keio University (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Kohei Ito)—namely the Waseda University Library and the Keio University Media Centers—will expand the eligibility for the "Waseda-Keio Library Book Share" to include graduate students from both institutions. This interlibrary loan service between the two universities was initially launched in April of the same year for faculty, staff, and Professors Emeriti of both universities. The "Waseda-Keio Library Passport," which allows members of each university to enter the other's libraries using their own university ID (student or faculty/staff ID), also began in April. Marking this expansion of services to graduate students as a significant milestone, the universities aim to further strengthen their collaboration in the future.
