Since 1996, Keio University has been honoring researchers in the fields of medical sciences and life sciences who have made outstanding and creative achievements and are expected to make further global contributions. To date, ten past recipients of this prize have gone on to receive the Nobel Prize, making it an unparalleled award system for a university in Japan. The laureates of this year's 29th Keio Medical Science Prize are Dr. Mitinori Saitou, a professor at the Institute for Advanced Study, Kyoto University, and Dr. Demis Hassabis, Co-Founder and CEO of Google DeepMind in the UK.
