Keio SDM to Exhibit at Milan Design Week 2024 in Italy—Showcasing Two Solutions under the Theme "The Power of Stories" (April 16–21)

The Graduate School of System Design and Management (Keio SDM) at Keio University will exhibit at Milan Design Week 2024 (Salone del Mobile.Milano), the world's largest design festival, held in Milan, Italy, from Tuesday, April 16 to Sunday, April 21, 2024. Beginning with an exhibition at SaloneSatellite in 2015 and moving to the Tortona district in 2016, this marks Keio SDM's eighth appearance at the event, despite an interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year's theme is "The Power of Stories—Invitation to a Better Future."

In modern times, the power of stories is being used in an increasing number of situations. People have shifted from a society that consumes things to one that consumes experiences. Stories are now added to products and services in various ways, playing a role in enhancing their value. Since people resonate with the stories embedded in products and services and determine their value based on them, we believe that by skillfully using the power of stories, we can guide people toward a better future.

Student teams will exhibit two solutions as their projects: 1) "Mocchi," which transforms the tedious task of cleaning up scattered toys into an exciting experience, and 2) "MediAquario," which turns the boredom of continuously taking pills into an enjoyable experience. In addition, exhibitions by our corporate partners, Hoppy Beverage Co., Ltd. and Science Co., Ltd., will also be held at the same venue.

Through its exhibition at Salone del Mobile.Milano, Keio SDM aims to raise awareness of the potential for education in system design, based on systems engineering, to solve societal issues.
