NTT DOCOMO, INC. and the Keio University Haptics Research Center (hereinafter "Keio University") have successfully achieved wireless autonomous control of a semi-autonomous robot hand and arm capable of appropriate force adjustment, utilizing Real Haptics®, a robot control technology developed by Keio University. This robot can identify the material of an object from the force feedback (haptic information) when grasping it and autonomously select the appropriate action. The real-time analysis of haptic information, combining 5G and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), is a first-of-its-kind initiative in Japan.
