Keio University (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Kohei Itoh; hereinafter "Keio University") has invested in "KII Fund No. 3 Impact Investment Limited Partnership" (hereinafter "the Fund"), the first impact fund established by a university-based venture capital firm, Keio Innovation Initiative, Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kotaro Yamagishi; hereinafter "KII"), an affiliated company of Keio University.
The Fund was established based on the "Memorandum of Understanding on Collaboration and Cooperation for Promoting Well-Being and a Capital Cycle Centered on Academia," concluded between Keio University and Japan Post Insurance Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Director and Representative Executive Officer, President and CEO: Kunio Tanigaki; hereinafter "Japan Post Insurance"). The establishment process was led by KII, which, as Keio University's venture capital, has an extensive track record of investing in deep tech startups originating from universities.
Through impact investing, the Fund will promote a capital cycle centered on advancing the social implementation of outstanding research outcomes from academia in the medical/healthcare and digital technology fields, aiming to realize a society where everyone can achieve a healthy and happy life.
