This exhibition will feature the Tanabe Collection, materials related to the kabuki magazine "Yakusha," which were cataloged in the early days of the archiving activities of the Keio University Art Center (KUAC), celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

The kabuki magazine "Yakusha" was published for about two years immediately after the end of World War II, and it conveys the passion and high aspirations directed toward kabuki during a difficult era of scarce resources. The Tanabe Collection consists of materials donated to the Center by the family of the late Mitsuo Tanabe, the publisher of "Yakusha."

This exhibition will display precious materials from that period that have rarely been seen before. We hope that visitors will feel, through these materials, the passion poured into kabuki during a difficult time, as well as the enthusiasm of the enthusiasts and researchers who received it through the magazine.
