As a customary New Year's event, the Fukuzawa-related Materials Center will introduce materials newly acquired in 2022. For over 100 years, since the end of the Meiji period, Keio University has had a tradition of holding a commemorative gathering on Yukichi Fukuzawa's birthday, January 10. The origin of this exhibition was to celebrate the New Year by displaying calligraphic works by Fukuzawa himself at the venue. After the war, it became an annual event to unveil materials newly acquired by Keio University. Previously, it was a one-day-only event on January 10, but it is now open to the public for a longer period.

This exhibition will feature not only letters and calligraphic works in Fukuzawa's own hand, but also letters from his disciples, diaries of Keio students from the Meiji period, and other rare items such as the book collection of a Keio University alumnus who was a member of the first class of the Nakano School of the Imperial Japanese Army, andgetaskates used by a player from the early days of the Skating Team.
