The year 2022 marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of Yukichi Fukuzawa's "Gakumon no susume (An Encouragement of Learning)".
To mark this occasion, Keio University has launched the "GAKUMON NO SUSUME" Project.
The ideas of Yukichi Fukuzawa, as written in the original "Gakumon no susume (An Encouragement of Learning)," have not faded even after 150 years and continue to serve as a compass for us living in modern times where the future is difficult to predict. We hope to provide an opportunity for young people, who will forge the future, and others to read "Gakumon no susume (An Encouragement of Learning)," a work rich in insights that are still relevant today.
We have launched a special website and, as the first installment, have begun streaming a special video dialogue between Keio University President Kohei Itoh and alumnus Sho Sakurai, starting today.
Through this website, we will announce various events and release a range of video content for the "GAKUMON NO SUSUME" Project.
