Since 1996, Keio University has been honoring researchers who have made outstanding and creative achievements in the fields of medical sciences and life sciences and are expected to make further global contributions. Past prize laureates include eight Nobel laureates, making it an award system unparalleled by any other university in Japan. The laureates of this year's 27th Keio Medical Science Prize have been decided: Dr. Yoshihiro Kawaoka, Director of the International Research Center for Infectious Diseases at the National Center for Global Health and Medicine Research Centers and Institutes, and Dr. Carl H. June, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in the United States.
