Revealing the Reasons and Characteristics Behind Changes in COVID-19 Vaccination Intentions: A One-Year Follow-up Study of 20,000 People

A research team from the Department of Health Policy and Management, Keio University School of Medicine, led by Project Associate Professor Shuhei Nomura and Researcher Cyrus Ghaznavi, has conducted two large-scale national online surveys on COVID-19 vaccination intentions targeting residents of Japan aged 20 and over.

The first survey was conducted in February of last year, just before the general rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations began, and the second was conducted one year later in February of this year. The team analyzed data from approximately 20,000 respondents using multifaceted statistical methods and summarized the characteristics of those whose vaccination intentions changed over this one-year period.

The results of this research were published as two academic papers on July 21, 2022 (UK time), in the British medical journal The Lancet Regional Health – Western Pacific .
