On July 12, Minamiaso Village, Kumamoto Prefecture (Mayor: Seiichi Kira), the Keio University Graduate School of Media Design (KMD) (located in Kohoku-ku, Yokohama; Dean: Masahiko Inakage; hereinafter KMD), and the Kumamoto Prefecture Livestock Agricultural Cooperative Association Federation (Representative Director and Chairman: Hiroyuki Aramaki) signed a mutual collaboration agreement. The purpose of this agreement is to create an industry that responds to "ethical consumption"—which is considerate of people, the environment, and society—by supporting the industry for "Kumamoto Akaushi" beef, which has coexisted with the vast grasslands located in Minamiaso Village.

Building on the collaboration agreement signed in 2006 between Minamiaso Village and the Kyushu Campus of Tokai University, this new agreement expands the partnership to include KMD, which has a track record of supporting sales promotion in cooperation with the Kumamoto Prefecture Livestock Agricultural Cooperative Association Federation, a producer support union. Through this expansion, the agreement will promote support for agriculture from production to sales, as well as new collaborations between the local region and urban areas in terms of environment and tourism.
