Keio University will hold the 47th Shinzo Koizumi Prize National High School Essay Contest. This contest was established in 1976 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the passing of Dr. Shinzo Koizumi, who served as President of Keio University for over 13 years from 1933. The contest aims to pass on the character and achievements of Dr. Koizumi—an outstanding researcher, educator, and accomplished writer—to future generations and to contribute to the improvement of writing and expression skills among young people.

Amid concerns in recent years over a decline in the writing abilities of young people, this contest calls for long-form essays of 6,000–8,000 characters with a clear, logical argument. Every year, it attracts a large number of high-quality submissions from across the country.

We would therefore be grateful for your cooperation in publicizing this contest to high school students, their parents, and high school teachers in order to share the contest's purpose and encourage a large number of applications again this year.
