Since 1996, Keio University has been honoring researchers who have made outstanding and creative achievements in the fields of medical sciences and life sciences, and whose future global contributions are anticipated. Eight past laureates of this prize have gone on to become Nobel laureates, making it an award system unparalleled by any other university in Japan. The laureates of this year's 26th Keio Medical Science Prize are Dr. Osamu Nureki, Professor at the Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo, and Dr. Katalin Karikó, Guest Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, USA.
