On July 12, Kunigami Village, Okinawa Prefecture (Mayor: Yasushi Chibana; hereinafter "Kunigami Village"), the Kunigami Village Society of Commerce and Industry (Chairman: Shimon Kinjo), and the Keio University Graduate School of Media Design (KMD) (located in Kohoku-ku, Yokohama; Dean: Masahiko Inakage) concluded a mutual cooperation agreement to work together on creating local industries and promoting the sixth industrialization. These efforts will be based at the Michi-no-Eki "Yambaru Pineapple Hill Aha," scheduled to open next March in the Yambaru area of northern Okinawa Prefecture, which was registered as a World Natural Heritage site this July.

Last March, Oaks Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Tokyo), a company established by researcher Takashi Oe from the "Chiiki Mirai Project" (Regional Future Project) launched by the laboratory of Professor Hiroyuki Kishi of KMD, was selected as the designated management candidate for the Michi-no-Eki through a proper selection process.
