Associate Professor Haruo Suzuki of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Keio University (Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture) and the Institute for Advanced Biosciences (Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture)

participated in an international collaborative research group investigating microbes and antimicrobial resistance genes in the built environments (such as subway stations) of 60 cities worldwide. The group created a global atlas based on this distribution and reported the existence of city-specific microbial communities.
