MotionLib, Inc. (Headquarters: Kawasaki, Kanagawa; CEO: Takahiro Mizoguchi), the Haptics Research Center at Keio Frontier Research & Education Collaborative Square (K-FRECS) at Shin-Kawasaki, Keio University (Kawasaki, Kanagawa; Center Director: Kohei Ohnishi), and Toyo Kohan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa, Tokyo; President: Toshiyuki Tanabe) have jointly developed an automated device to wipe deposits from the surface of rolls in the thin steel sheet manufacturing process, successfully achieving remote operation and automation of the task. This development achieves automation by using Real Haptics to extract and reference data on human movements and the amount of force applied during the same task. Going forward, we will further advance this developed technology, aiming to achieve remote operation and automation of "manual tasks" that have traditionally relied on human senses and experience, and to establish safer and more efficient manufacturing technologies.
