Keio University
Keio University will be holding the 46th Shinzo Koizumi Prize All-Japan High School Essay Contest. This contest was established in 1976 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Dr. Shinzo Koizumi, who served as President of Keio University for over 13 years starting in 1933. The contest aims to pass on the character and achievements of Dr. Koizumi, an outstanding researcher, educator, and accomplished writer, to future generations and to contribute to the improvement of the writing and expressive skills of young people.
In recent years, there has been concern over a decline in the writing skills of young people. This contest, however, calls for well-reasoned, long-form essays of 6,000 to 8,000 characters, and every year it attracts a large number of high-quality submissions from all over Japan.
We would therefore appreciate your assistance in publicizing this contest to spread awareness of its purpose to as many high school students, parents, and high school teachers as possible, and to encourage a large number of applications again this year.
