Synspective Inc. (hereafter Synspective), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (hereafter JAXA), the Nakasuka-Funase Laboratory at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo (hereafter Nakasuka-Funase Laboratory, The University of Tokyo), the Hirokawa Laboratory at the School of Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology (hereafter Hirokawa Laboratory, Tokyo Tech), and the Shirasaka Laboratory at the Graduate School of System Design and Management, Keio University (hereafter Shirasaka Laboratory, Keio University) have successfully acquired the first images from a small SAR satellite by applying the results of the "Research and Development of Small Synthetic Aperture Radar Satellite Systems," one of the projects in the Impulsing Paradigm Change through Disruptive Technologies Program (ImPACT) led by the Cabinet Office (hereafter ImPACT Program). This is the first time* a commercial small SAR satellite (100 kg class) has acquired images in Japan.
