The Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI) has launched the "Crypto Asset Research Project" with donations from Coincheck, Inc. and HashPort Inc. to promote the development of the crypto asset industry and understanding of the social significance of crypto assets. The first lecture on February 25, 2021, will be held online as a public lecture open to the general public on the theme of "The Present and Future of Crypto Asset Regulation."

In recent years, as blockchain technology has been gaining attention, with the government mentioning its necessity in the "Society 5.0" era, "crypto assets," which are a digitalization of currency—our most familiar asset value—using blockchain, are also being re-evaluated. In Japan, while the legal framework is being developed and the business environment is gradually being established, there is still a lack of understanding regarding the laws, impacts, and social significance related to crypto assets.

Under these circumstances, this project aims to deepen the understanding of the potential that crypto assets can bring to society and promote the development of the crypto asset industry by providing opportunities to hear directly from practitioners with deep knowledge of crypto assets as guest speakers.
