Keio University
Fumihiko Maki (1928–), who studied at Keio University and Harvard, is a modernist architect who has been active worldwide since establishing his own practice. His architecture is characterized not only by its modern forms but also by its design, which is based on a deep understanding of the environment surrounding the building.
This exhibition focuses on the relationship between Keio University and Fumihiko Maki, with the architecture of the Mita and Hiyoshi Campuses as its theme. Based on research from the "Architecture of Keio" project at the Keio University Art Center (KUAC), the exhibition explores how Maki envisioned new architecture adapted to the times while considering the unique environments of each campus: the Mita Campus, with its long tradition, and the Hiyoshi Campus, which has followed a completely different history.
