The Yokohama Sports Association (hereinafter, the Sports Association) (Naka-ku, Yokohama / Representative Director: Hiroshi Yamaguchi) and the Keio University Graduate School of System Design and Management (hereinafter, Keio SDM) (Kohoku-ku, Yokohama / Dean: Hidekazu Nishimura) are holding "Online Lessons to Improve Your Skating Skills" in response to the situation where people cannot fully enjoy skating due to the impact of the novel coronavirus and facility closures. Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus, facility use continues to be restricted, and with the need to avoid the "Three Cs" and wear masks, it is no longer possible to enjoy skating as freely as before. The Sports Association and Keio SDM were motivated to hold these lessons precisely because of this situation, with an eye on the new lifestyle of "living with COVID-19" and the desire to "offer the first-ever online skating lessons."

This time, as a trial, we are specially offering two classes free of charge, with each program consisting of four sessions: a "Saturday Class" (starting Saturday, August 22, for a total of 4 sessions) and a "Wednesday Class" (starting Wednesday, August 19, for a total of 4 sessions). We will also hold trial classes (Wednesday, July 29, and Saturday, August 1) for those considering participation in the program. These lessons are an initiative aimed at achieving beautiful skating form through off-ice training, with the goal of contributing to improvement when skating on the rink. In the lessons, we will conduct training with participants to develop the core strength and sense of balance necessary for skating, while checking basic skating posture and form online. In addition, we will also introduce at-home training exercises to be done between the four lessons to promote individual growth. Furthermore, we are planning to further develop the off-ice training menu and its evaluation methods as a program that can be enjoyed even by those who do not have a skating rink nearby.
