Keio University is pleased to announce the 45th Shinzo Koizumi Prize All-Japan High School Essay Contest. This contest was established in 1976 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the passing of Dr. Shinzo Koizumi, who served as President of Keio University for over 13 years, from 1933. The purpose of this contest is to pass on the character and achievements of Dr. Koizumi—an outstanding researcher, educator, and gifted writer—to future generations and to contribute to the improvement of the writing and expressive skills of young people.

In an age where the decline in young people's writing skills is often noted, this contest calls for well-reasoned "essays" of 6,000 to 8,000 characters. Each year, we receive a large number of high-quality submissions from all over Japan.

We would therefore appreciate your help in introducing this contest to as many high school students, parents, and high school teachers as possible to spread awareness of its purpose and encourage a large number of applications again this year.
