Since 1996, Keio University has honored researchers who have made outstanding and creative achievements in the fields of medical sciences and life sciences. Seven past laureates of this prize have gone on to receive the Nobel Prize, making it an award system unparalleled by any other university in Japan. The laureates of this year's 23rd Keio Medical Science Prize are Dr. Masashi Yanagisawa, Director/Professor of the International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine (WPI-IIIS) at the University of Tsukuba, and Dr. Feng Zhang, Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA).
