The Keio University Faculty of Science and Technology and MANN+HUMMEL JAPAN LTD. (M+H), together with the Yokohama Industrial Development Corporation (IDEC Yokohama), have launched an initiative aiming for "the subway with the world's cleanest air." As an industry-academia collaboration project selected as a designated research project by the Keio Leading-edge Laboratory of Science and Technology (KLL), the project aims to develop an unprecedented new technology to remove dust generated from subway cars, brakes, and other sources by combining Keio University's unique knowledge of particle charging with M+H's latest filtration technology. The first phase of the project will involve analyzing the behavior of particulate matter, including PM 2.5 , in subway station premises, which are a vital transportation infrastructure in Japan's urban areas and have a significant impact on people's living environments. The first field survey will be conducted in the middle of this month.
